As more and more automation is being introduced, one is invariably left to wonder, ‘How come this wasn’t automated already?’
This is exactly what our Klaviyo team felt—following the recent rollout of auto-monitors in the platform.
But what are Klaviyo auto-monitors, and how may they be useful?
Are they a must-needed, long-anticipated addition to Klaviyo performance monitoring?
To put it simply, these new Klaviyo monitoring tools will help you proactively track and manage the performance of your email flows, campaigns, and e-commerce activity. These monitors enable your team to detect anomalies early, take timely action, and maintain a seamless customer experience.
But, what does all that really boil down to? Today’s preliminary overview will answer your question in detail. Let’s start with the technical stuff.

Klaviyo auto-monitors: The implications
What are Klaviyo auto-monitors?
Auto-monitors are built-in performance tracking tools within Klaviyo that automatically scan your account for unusual behavior or anomalies. When a significant drop in activity is detected—whether in email sends, campaign deliverability, or ecommerce events—Klaviyo generates an alert.
These real-time alerts allow for swift identification and resolution of issues, helping you minimize any potential impact on revenue, engagement, and deliverability. They act as email automation monitors Klaviyo users can rely on for timely insights.
To review your auto-monitors, navigate to: Account > Settings > Monitors
Here, you will see a complete list of current monitors along with key details and their status.
What Klaviyo monitors automatically
Currently, Klaviyo’s automation tracking supports anomaly detection across the following areas:
- Flow Triggers
Monitors whether flows are being triggered at their expected frequency. A significant drop may indicate issues with the associated event or data integration. This type of Klaviyo flow tracking allows marketers to ensure consistent message delivery.
2. Flow Message Volume
Tracks the volume of emails, SMS, or push messages being sent from flows. A decrease may signal issues with eligibility criteria or event volume.
3. Campaign Deliverability
Monitors bounce rates for each email provider (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo). Unusual spikes in bounce rates may indicate issues with email content, sending domains, or reputation. This is a welcome addition to Klaviyo deliverability tools for identifying inboxing issues.

Frequency: Klaviyo checks flow-related monitors every 24 hours. Campaign deliverability data is available for 3 days post-send.
What you’ll see in the Monitor dashboard
Each monitor includes:
- Monitor Name: The associated flow, campaign, or a specific segment.
- Status:
- Active – No anomalies detected.
- Alert – An issue was detected in the last check.
- Monitor Type: The specific metric or object being monitored
- Alert Rule: The condition that triggers the alert.
- Notifications: Alerts are always enabled and are automatically sent to relevant users.
Clicking on a specific monitor brings you to a detailed summary:
- A high-level description of the monitor
- A metric preview chart (viewable by day, week, or month)
- A timeline of recent alerts under the Activity Log
You can also access the Alert Log, which offers:
- Detailed logs of triggered alerts
- Affected metrics and flows
- The exact rules or thresholds that were exceeded

This dashboard is part of what makes Klaviyo email performance reports valuable for spotting trends and taking proactive steps.
How notifications work
Auto-monitor alerts are sent to users with the following roles:
- Owner
- Admin
- Manager
- Analyst
Alerts appear directly on the Home tab, as well as on affected flows and their triggers within the Flows tab. The account Owner will also receive email notifications for additional visibility.
If you’re wondering how to set up monitors in Klaviyo, it’s as simple as reviewing the default alerts in your Monitor dashboard and adjusting your flow and campaign strategies accordingly.
Responding to alerts
If a performance alert is expected or under review, Klaviyo offers two ways to manage it:
- Dismiss an Alert
This hides the alert temporarily. If the issue recurs, the alert will reappear.
Here are the steps to dismiss:
- Navigate to the alert from the Home tab or Flows tab.
- Open the flow and select the trigger.
- Click Dismiss in the sidebar.
2. Suppress an Alert
This prevents the alert from reappearing for a set period. Options include 30 days, 60 days, 120 days, and 365 days.
Here are the steps to suppress:
- Access the alert as described in the first case.
- Click the arrow next to the Dismiss button.
- Choose the desired suppression period. A confirmation will indicate the expiration date.
Once suppression ends, alerts will resume if anomalies are still detected.
Bear in mind that not all alerts signal critical problems. Common causes of performance drops include:
- Scheduled maintenance: Your store may have been temporarily offline.
- E-commerce outages: Providers such as Shopify or BigCommerce may experience downtime.
In these cases, event data may not be captured, leading to reduced message volume or flow activity. Checking internal logs or platform status pages can help identify and confirm these causes.
These built-in Klaviyo monitoring tools reduce manual effort and help you prioritize which issues need real-time attention.
Monitoring e-commerce metrics
Beyond flows and campaigns, Klaviyo also monitors key e-commerce metrics that may impact triggered flows. These include:
- Placed Order
- Fulfilled Order
- Started Checkout
- Added to Cart
Custom events created via Klaviyo’s Metrics API or Events API are also supported.

Anomaly detection works by comparing recent metric performance to historical trends. When a sharp drop is identified, an alert is triggered, allowing your team to investigate quickly.
These are the kinds of changes that email campaign monitoring Klaviyo users can leverage for sharper customer insights. To take full advantage of Klaviyo automation tracking:
- Ensure your e-commerce integration is active.
- For custom setups, collaborate with your development team to implement Klaviyo’s APIs.
When used together, features like Klaviyo performance monitoring and Klaviyo email performance reports empower your team to act quickly and confidently across all parts of the customer journey.

Klaviyo auto-monitors: The implications
To begin with, the advantages of these Klaviyo monitoring tools are pretty obvious: Real-time monitoring and faster problem-solving.
For instance, imagine launching a welcome series. If the “Flow Triggers” monitor detects a sudden drop, you’ll know right away that new subscribers aren’t entering the flow. This could be due to a problem with your signup form integration or the underlying event tracking. Catching this early prevents you from missing out on engaging and converting new customers.
And there are no so-called downsides as such to Klaviyo auto-monitors.
Even so, to get a fuller picture, I sat down with the esteemed co-author of this post, Disha Sharma, who is Campaign Manager at Mavlers.
Below is a snapshot of our conversation on Klaviyo’s latest rollout.
Susmit: So, is your team already onboard with auto-monitors?
Disha: This is kind of new to us. But so far, I’ve seen some of our clients have it activated and working with it.
Susmit: And these clients are from which industry?
Disha: Fashion.
Susmit: So before auto-monitors came into the picture, how would you usually catch any issues in your campaigns?
Disha: We’d typically catch issues through our reporting process. That’s always been our go-to. After each send, we’d generate a report to review key metrics, and for long-term trends, we’d look at monthly or quarterly performance depending on the campaign type and cadence. It’s a mix of immediate post-send checks and more strategic, zoomed-out reviews.
Susmit: Were you guys constantly watching those dashboards like hawks? Like, sitting on the reports to catch something early?
Disha: No, nothing like literally sitting on the reporting dashboards all day. It wasn’t that intense. I mean, how often we checked really depended. For high-stakes sends, sure, we’d check in right away to make sure everything landed well. But in general, we’ve built a rhythm around it. Sometimes it’s after every send, other times it’s part of a weekly or monthly review cycle. And honestly, it’s not just about spotting numbers, it’s about interpreting what they mean. We’re looking for patterns, shifts, or anything that might indicate a deeper issue.
Susmit: But doesn’t that delay the time it takes to catch an issue? Like by the time you actually spot something in the reports, isn’t it a little too late?
Disha: It depends on what you’re looking at. For campaigns, not really, Klaviyo gives you a quick summary view right after the send, so you can usually catch the issues right away without needing to build out a full report.
But with flows, it’s more manual. There’s no dashboard that shows performance at a glance, you have to click into individual emails to see their data. So unless you’re actively checking reports, it’s easy to miss something. That’s where auto-monitors really fill the gap. They help surface those flow-level issues early, without you needing to constantly dig.
Susmit: But let’s say auto-monitors had never been rolled out in the first place. How much of a difference would that make?
Disha: It would still make a noticeable difference; mainly in terms of efficiency and visibility, especially for flows. That said, if your team is experienced, knows how to audit performance consistently, and already has solid processes in place, then yes, you can absolutely manage both campaigns and flows without auto-monitors.
It just takes more manual effort. For flows in particular, you’re relying on reports and individual flow checks to catch issues, since there’s no real-time overview built into Klaviyo. So while it’s doable, auto-monitors save you time and give you peace of mind. They act like a backup system, helping you catch things that might otherwise slip through, even if you’ve got a solid setup already.
Susmit: To be sure. It’s kind of like training wheels for newer teams, but also a nice-to-have even for seasoned pros.
Disha: Because even if you know what you’re doing, automating some of those checks just makes life easier. Fewer chances of something slipping through the cracks.
