As a marketer working to drive conversions for a brand/business, you understand the pertinent role played by perfectly crafted landing pages.
Simply said, your landing pages are your sales pitch, first impression, and conversion powerhouse—all rolled into one. But what happens when you need to make a last-minute tweak? Maybe a product spotlight needs to move higher up, or a testimonial should take center stage. For many marketers, this can mean hours lost waiting for a developer to swoop in and save the day.
But guess what? It doesn’t have to be this way!
Enter Marketo’s reordering and swapping features, two hidden syntax tools that allow you to adjust layouts on the fly without coding.
At Mavlers, we don’t just implement these features, we help you unlock their full potential to make your guided landing pages dynamic, flexible, and ready to deliver results.
Today, we have Ravi Hingu, our in-house web dev Marketo expert, who will walk you through the intricacies and implications of how Mavlers helps bring the full power and advantage of these two hidden syntax features to the fore.

By the end of this blog, you’ll see how these real-time editability features can turn your static landing pages into conversion-boosting machines—and why non-technical marketers can finally take the wheel.
Understanding the reordering sections feature
Reordering sections in Marketo is as simple as rearranging puzzle pieces—but the impact on your marketing efforts is profound.
To start with, Marketo doesn’t explicitly provide features for reordering the different sections on guided landing pages. However, we at Mavlers have prepared a customized solution for our clients to enable them to reorder modules without developer intervention throughout the landing page.
Ravi Hingu walks us through this simple yet elegant feature with the help of the following video.
As you can see, at the beginning of the endeavor, the Map Section Order is marked at number 3 in the Variables quadrant, whereas the Sponsor Only Section Order is marked at number 4.
In order to reorder these two, one can manually interchange the numbering in the Variables quadrant as shown, and voila—you’re all set!
Do you see the magic?! No code, no developer intervention, and you can reorder multiple sections as many times as you deem fit in your landing pages.
Before this feature, you would have to knock on the doors of web developers to make the requisite changes in the layout at the coding level.
However, with this in-built functionality powered by web dev ninjas at Mavlers, you can make as many reorder edits as you desire!
Here’s how this feature drives better results;
1. Adaptability without limits
Campaign priorities can shift in an instant. With reordering, you’re no longer tethered to static layouts. Want the testimonial slider to appear above the product description? Done. Need to push a flash sale announcement to the top? Easy.
2. Enhanced user experience
A well-structured landing page isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about guiding the user’s journey. Reordering allows you to optimize that journey dynamically, increasing the likelihood of conversion.
3. Immediate, developer-free updates
No waiting for the IT team to step in. Marketers and business owners can make impactful changes independently, reducing downtime and keeping campaigns agile.
Understanding the swapping sections feature
While reordering helps rearrange the sequence of sections, swapping focuses on flipping the visual arrangement within a section (from right to left or vice versa). Whether you’re switching text and image placement or aligning CTAs more prominently, swapping gives you the precision to make impactful changes.
To illustrate this feature, Ravi has this video:
As you can see in the above video, the text module is initially towards the left, whereas the image module is on the right.
Now, when a client approaches us for landing page development in Marketo, we seek their preference for incorporating this swapping modules feature. If they agree, we add a toggle button in the Variables section (Show Swap Section marked in red, which is currently turned on).
If the client wants to swap the placement of the Lorem ipsum text box and the 960x 705 image box, all they need to do is switch off the toggle button, as shown below.
Yep, it’s really that simple! On the contrary, if they don’t opt for this feature, they will have to get in touch with the developer to swap the placement of the requisite modules.
Here’s why swapping matters:
- Editability: It provides users with the ability to customize the structure and content of landing pages effortlessly.
- Client satisfaction: It allows for run-time changes in design or content hierarchy post-delivery without requiring significant redevelopment.
- Flexibility: It helps adapt the page layout dynamically to better align with marketing strategies or campaign goals.
Why real-time editability means better ROI
Let’s face it: campaigns move fast, and your landing pages need to keep up. Features like reordering and swapping aren’t just conveniences; they’re critical for maintaining relevance and driving results. Here’s why:
1. Increased conversions
Small changes—like repositioning a CTA or rearranging content—can lead to significant improvements in conversion rates.
2. Reduced time-to-market
Real-time edits eliminate delays, allowing you to launch updates and respond to insights faster than ever.
3. Empowered teams
Giving your team the ability to make changes independently fosters creativity, agility, and ownership—key drivers of marketing success.
